David is an investment consultant and company director.
His investment-related roles include being a Guardian of the New Plymouth District Council’s Perpetual Investment Fund, a Trustee of the New Zealand Refining Company staff pension scheme and a member of the Investment Committees of the Te Pūia Tāpapa investment fund and Metis Research. He is also on the Advisory Committee of the Public Infrastructure Partners III Fund.
His main company director roles include Longroad Energy Holdings LLC (a US-based solar and wind-farm developer), Whanganui District Council Holdings (a council asset holding company), Gasnet (the owner of the gas network in Whanganui-Manawatu), the NZ International Commercial Pilot Academy (a flight school) and Astronz (a telescope importer).
David spent eight years at the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, much of it as Head of Investment Analysis. He had a range of private market and direct investing experience, being involved in the infrastructure, forestry, farmland and insurance mandates. He was a member of the Fund’s investment committee and also led the Responsible Investment team.
He has previously worked in the Economics Department at the OECD in Paris, the National Bank of New Zealand and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
He holds a Master of Science (Distinction) from the London School of Economics and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
